CSI Student Chapter – Dr. H N National College of Engineering

The Computer Society of India (CSI), established on 6 March 1965, is the premier professional society for IT professionals in India and a recognized member of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP). The CSI Student Chapter at Dr. HNNCE is led by Dr. Vikhyath K B, Associate Professor in the CSE department.

About CSI
  • Membership: Over 100,000+ professionals and 90,000+ student volunteers.
  • Coverage: 72 professional chapters and approximately 511 student branches across India.
  • Purpose: To advance the theory and practice of computer science and IT through scientific and educational initiatives.
Objectives
  • Developing and disseminating technical knowledge through publications, conferences, and training.
  • Facilitating collaboration among professionals, academia, and industry.
  • Encouraging research and student participation in technical activities.
Core Activities & Services
  • Hosts national and regional conventions, technical conferences, seminars, and workshops.
  • Publishes CSI Communications, Journal of Computing, Adhyayan (student newsletter), and e‑newsletters.
  • Operates Education Directorate, conducting certification, training, and minor project support.
  • Manages Special Interest Groups (SIGs) in focus areas like AI, e‑governance, and allow interested members in a particular field of specialization to connect and collaborate.
