The National Service Scheme (NSS) promotes personality development through community service, exposing volunteers to social, human, and environmental challenges while nurturing empathy, responsibility, and unity.

Launched in 1969 during Mahatma Gandhi’s birth centenary with 40,000 students across 37 universities, NSS serves as an extension of higher education under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Guided by its motto, “ Not Me, But You,” NSS inspires selfless service and reinforces the link between individual growth and societal well-being. Volunteers uplift communities while developing leadership, resilience, and essential life skills.
