HNN College of Engineering (HNNCE) in Jayanagar, Bengaluru, celebrated NSS Day 2026 with great enthusiasm and a spirit of community service. Organised under the NSS motto "Not Me, But You", the two-day programme on the 23rd and 24th of September 2026 featured engaging competitions, cultural events, and a meaningful social initiative.
To kick off the celebrations, various student competitions were held to promote social awareness and creativity. Students actively participated in:
The formal celebration began with an inauguration that reminded everyone of the youth's vital role in nation-building. The event was packed with energetic cultural performances, including traditional dances, folk songs, a thought-provoking skit, and the melodious NSS Seva Song.
A key moment was the NSS Pledge, where students and faculty took an oath to commit themselves to social justice, cleanliness, and community service.
The absolute highlight of the day was the Book Donation Drive, conducted with the beautiful motto "A notebook today, a brighter tomorrow!". Students and staff generously donated new and gently used notebooks to support the education of children in local government schools.
The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, felicitating the winners of the competitions, followed by a heartfelt vote of thanks.

As part of the NSS Day Celebration 2026, the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of HNN College of Engineering (HNNCE) organised a series of competitions on 23rd September 2026 at the Engineering Block. The competitions were conducted with the objective of encouraging students to showcase their creativity, communication skills, innovative thinking and awareness towards social and environmental responsibilities, in keeping with the NSS motto, “Not Me, But You.”
The competitions provided students with an opportunity to participate actively and express their ideas and talents through different forms. Cooking Without Fire, Speech Competition, Poster Making Competition and Best Out of Waste were conducted as part of the celebrations. A total of 39 participants took part in these competitions.
The Cooking Without Fire Competition was conducted on the theme “Health & Nutrition” and witnessed the participation of 7 students. The event was judged by Dr. Shwetha V., HOD, Department of ECE, and Dr. Chinni Krishna, NSS Programme Officer. Shree Lakshmi B R, Sagar K Shingadi and Yashas A of III Year ISE secured the first place. Manogna Shree K J and Jeevitha L of III Year ISE, along with Lisha S of II Year AI & DS, secured the second place. Tanushri of I Year CSE and Yashaswin and Tharunya of I Year AI & DS secured the third place.
The Speech Competition was organised on the theme “Youth for a Better Society” and had 14 participants. The competition was judged by Dr. Shwetha K. S., Cultural Coordinator, and Dr.Preetham, Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics. Charanya D N of II Year ISE secured the first place, Audithya R of II Year ECE secured the second place and Sayeeda Zainab of II Year AI & DS secured the third place.
The Poster Making Competition was conducted on the theme “Clean Environment, Healthy Future” with 14 participants. The competition was judged by Mr. Sunil Kumar and Dr. Suhith S. Prerana S. R., Saanvi G., Safa Sameer and Sushma H. C. of II Year ISE secured the first place. R. Adithi Hosur and Sanika K S of III Year ISE secured the second place, while Sinchana of I Year AI & DS secured the third place.
The Best Out of Waste Competition provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate creativity and innovation through the effective reuse of waste materials. The event had 4 participants and was judged by Dr. B. S. C. Ranjan and Dr. Praveen Kumar B. C. Hemavarshini S. of III Year ECE secured the first place and Manasvini Vasanth of I Year ISE secured the second place.
The competitions witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across different branches and semesters. The events encouraged creativity, confidence, healthy competition, teamwork and social awareness among the participants. The themes of the competitions also reflected the objectives of NSS by encouraging students to think about the environment, health, society and their responsibilities as young citizens.
Cash prizes of ₹500 for the first place and ₹300 for the second place were announced for each competition. The successful conduct of the competitions was made possible through the guidance and support of the NSS Programme Officer, faculty members, judges and NSS volunteers.
The competitions served as a meaningful part of the NSS Day Celebration 2026, providing students with opportunities to learn, participate and express themselves while embracing the spirit of “Not Me, But You.” The programme concluded successfully with active participation and enthusiasm from the students.
