The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit at HNN College of Engineering is officially in action for the 2026–27 academic year! We recently gathered to inaugurate a new season of community service, bringing together our management, faculty, returning volunteers, and an enthusiastic group of fresh faces ready to make a difference.

Following a traditional lamp lighting and the NSS Seva Song, the event centered on the true meaning of social responsibility. Chief Guest Dr. B. Vasanth Shetty, an NSS National Awardee, reminded the gathering that studying at an institution bearing the legacy of visionary educationist Dr. H. Narasimhaiah is both an honour and a call to action.

Dr. Shetty illustrated the power of the NSS platform with an inspiring story of a student from Mangaluru. What started as a simple, self-driven beach-cleaning initiative ultimately earned that student an invitation to the Republic Day Parade from the Prime Minister’s Office. His message was clear: small acts of community welfare can create a massive ripple effect.

Building on this, HNNCE Director Dr. M. K. Venkatesha challenged students to think about the legacy they want to leave behind. He framed the NSS not just as a service requirement, but as a proving ground for leadership and character. We also heard directly from our returning volunteers, Sinchana and Prithvi, who shared firsthand how NSS camps have shaped their teamwork, discipline, and worldview.

With strong support from HNNCE Principal Dr. D. Jayadevappa and NSS Programme Officer Dr. Chinni Krishna, we are thrilled to welcome our first-year students to the team.
