Dr. Annie Besant established the National Education Society in 1917 to create educational spaces that would foster a spirit of patriotism and self-reliance among Indian youth, supporting the struggle for independence.
The Annie Besant Award is instituted to recognize academic excellence. It is presented in the first semester to students who have secured 90% (or equivalent) and above in SSLC and PUC.
In subsequent semesters, students with no backlogs and an SGPA of 9.0 (or equivalent) and above are eligible.
The award carries a cash prize of ₹3,000 and a certificate.
